Support the scholarship.
An endowed scholarship fund has been endowed in Braxton’s name by his parents, Rick and Dava Byrd. The Braxton Byrd Memorial Scholarship is available to students enrolled in the Construction Science Division of the Gibbs College of Architecture.
Braxton exemplified everything that gives you hope about this generation coming up. He understood the joy of hard work. He shared his gifts in order to help people. He was a good teammate, a good listener, a great friend. He was a self-starter, a problem solver, and a broad thinker. He was intelligent, confident, inquisitive, humble, thoughtful, well-liked. Just a beautiful soul and a remarkable young man.
Braxton was in my Design+Build class, an elective where students build a real project for a community partner every spring. He stood out. He had an infectious passion for the craft and I would have loved to see the projects that Braxton built.
His legacy lives on in the many people he inspired - me being one of them. I’m honored to have been a part of his journey and I hope future recipients of Braxton’s scholarship feel the love that Braxton shared with all of us.
